1. General information
This subject lays the linguistic foundations of Arabic so that students will be able to communicate in everyday situations at a level of A1 of the CEFRL. Acquiring the skills that this subject offers enriches the student's linguistic and cultural training in the Arabic language and thus opens up a range of possibilities for their professional future.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (2030 Agenda (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/).

2. Learning results
In order to pass this subject, students must demonstrate the following learning results:
Evaluate medieval Arabic historiographic sources by studying their most characteristic features.
Express oneself in a basic way in the Arabic language using vocabulary and terminology specific to the historian.

1-Introduction: the situation of the Arabic language in the world. Diglossia
Phonology and graphonomy of the Arabic language: consonants and vowels
Presentation of the alphabet and figures
2-Greetings and introductions
Independent personal pronouns. Structure of the noun phrase. Interrogatives. Vocative
Everyday expressions
3-Nationalities and trades. Asking and giving personal information
Nominal morphology. Qualifying syntagm
Names of countries, nisba adjectives and occupations
4-Family.
Genitive construction. Demonstratives. Suffixed pronouns
Negation of the noun phrase
5-Habitual places
Prepositions. Adverbs
Numbers 1-10
6-Everyday actions
Regular verb conjugation: Imperfective

4. Academic activities
Teacher's presentation of the grammatical and linguistic notions necessary for the acquisition of the competences indicated.
Individual and group practice in writing and reading to achieve the ability to use Arabic spelling and phonetics correctly
Listening and reading of texts on the proposed topics and adapted to the students' level of knowledge of the language.
Pronunciation and writing exercises on these texts, applying the comprehension skills acquired
Written and/or spoken composition (including conversation in groups) related to the topic covered in the unit, applying expression skills.
5. Assessment system
a) Continuous assessment system
The date of completion or delivery of the exercises or tests will be duly indicated at the beginning of the term
Test 1. Oral and written tests of noun phrases and everyday expressions. It will account for 20% of the grade. No minimum grade is required to average the final grade.
Test 2. Oral and written tests of basic noun and verb phrases on everyday topics. It will account for 60% of the grade. The minimum grade that must be obtained in this test to average the final grade is 4.
Test 3. Completion of tasks and practical exercises proposed throughout the teaching period. They will be produced by the students in an autonomous way and students will deliver their materials. It will account for 20% of the final grade.
b) Global assessment test
Practical tests, written and oral, carried out on the same date and based on the content of the program
All the tests will assess the communicative and receptive ability in everyday situations, in oral and written expression, as well as the knowledge and correct use of the basic Arabic linguistic structures and the most common Arabic lexical expressions. A level tending to A1 of the CEFR will be required.
In the second call, there will be a global assessment test with the same characteristics and criteria as the global test of the first call.
